Let, the length of a rectangle is.x unit and breadth is
y unit. Its area is x.y unit^2.
New length = x + 25%of x = 5x/4. unit.
Let new bredth = b ,
and area = (5x/4) × b.unit^2.
Accordingly:
(5x/4) × b = x.y.
b = ( 4/5).y.
Decrease in bredth. = y - 4y/5 = y/5.
% decrease in bredth = (y/5) × 100/y = 20 % . Ans.
New length = x + 25%of x = 5x/4. unit.
Let new bredth = b ,
and area = (5x/4) × b.unit^2.
Accordingly:
